About Me

Hi, I'm Stephanie. I'm a licensed clinical psychologist and founder of New Gen Psychology. As a millennial clinician, I'm part of a new generation of mental health providers dedicated to confronting stigma associated with mental healthcare. Thus, the ethos of New Gen is to provide a welcoming environment for patients to pursue a path of wellness and self-reflection without a primary focus on pathology or diagnostic labels.

I completed my undergraduate degree at Wesleyan University and my PhD at Binghamton University (State University of New York). For my internship and postdoctoral fellowship, I trained at the Emory School of Medicine where I am currently an Adjunct Assistant Professor.

A modern approach

As a psychologist, I strive to provide a warm and safe space where patients can feel comfortable sharing without fear of judgment. My goal is to help my patients reflect on their values so that they can work towards what it means to be their "best self." I will always focus on treating the symptoms and not the "disorder," in an effort to tailor my approach to the individual. I believe deeply in fighting stigma associated with mental illness and am involved in advocacy and research outside of treating patients. I am well-versed in treating mood disorders, anxiety disorders, relationship challenges, and a variety of other concerns. I also specialize in trauma-based therapies, with particular experience treating survivors of intimate partner, sexual, and domestic violence.

Outside of clinical work, I have published on suicide, intimate partner violence, and sexual violence victimization. I am passionate about advocacy, especially pertaining to improving access to mental healthcare within the prison system.
